Not to wish away summer but the feeling of crispness in the air and the cold morning dew all points to signs of autumn and the changing of the seasons. Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year, the colours and ambience that the darker nights provide make it a perfect opportunity to cosy up at home and create an ideal space for those longer nights.
With the new season approaching the everchanging trends are not far behind. Of course, elevating your space for the new season can be done in many ways, however, painting can be a great way to embrace the seasonal change and breathe freshness into a room.

In keeping with the theme of autumn the love for rich browns and deeper colours is still a popular choice especially when colour drenched across a room, although a daunting design idea the impact that can be made certainly outweighs the risk. "Embrace a rich tapestry of warm earthy tones, creating a design landscape that feels both grounded and inviting. The spotlight will be on the bold entrance of rich brown, adding depth and sophistication to the design scene." — Ginger Curtis, CEO and founder of Urbanology Designs

Following on from the darker tones green has been a prevalent colour throughout the entirety of 2024, optimising the earthy aromas of the colour pallet olive green and muted forest greens have been fan favourites. Think Hanford and Greens “Port Meadow” and Farrow and Bulls “Bancha” for inspiration.

A unique way to transform a space is to contrast paint your skirting boards and exposed woodwork with a different colour. Elevating your space, whilst providing a more time-efficient and cheaper way to do it. A bold red or dark green could be an interesting contrast to a light wall colour and create a pop of colour without going overboard.
although changing your home is completely subjective I believe a comfortable space to cosy up to in the colder months can never be overlooked and is a great way to switch up your house and welcome the turn of the season.
